KY TBF Club Barren Bassmasters Partner With Local Walmart for Lake Cleanup

The Clean Up was held on Saturday, October 30th from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm on Barren River Lake at the Peninsula Ramp parking lot. TBF Club – Barren Bassmasters had 14 members attend and supplied the boats. Wal-mart #5236 in Bowling Green, KY (Greg Stevens, Manager) had 20 employees who also volunteered their time to help clean up the lake.

In addition to the clean up, $2000.00 was raised, which was donated by Wal-Mart in the Barren Bassmasters name to The Center for Courageous Kids in Scottsville, Ky. Tim Turner- Community Relations from The Center For Courageous Kids, spoke to the participants about the mission of the center before the clean up began. The money donated by Walmart to the Barren Bassmasters for the charity of our choice was based on the number of Walmart employees who volunteered to help.

Walmart also donated trash bags and held a cookout for everyone who helped that day. In addition, Walmart also gave away various door prizes during the cookout to the volunteers who helped.

Almost a ton of garbage was collected, 1,987 lbs to be exact. There were also about 20 tires that were not included in the weight that was disposed of by B&R tire. Lakeside Recycling donated the dumpster. The Glasgow Landfill even emptied the dumpster at no charge.

The Barren Bassmasters have a few people or businesses they would like to thank for their help and or donations: B&R Tires, Greg Stevens & Walmart #5236 of Bowling Green, KY, Gale Wells & Lakeside Recycling, The Glasgow Landfill, Jon Fillingham & US Army Corps of Engineers.
