With colder than normal water and weather conditions, anglers are targeting pre-spawn fish on the river system. Renaud weighed in a big 5 fish limit of 20 pounds 5 ounces today. Renaud said that he caught fish all day in varying depths using both reaction baits and soft plastics fishing near flats on the river. Pelletier also landed the big fish for the day with a 5 pound 6 ounce Smallmouth bass.

Both Polfer and Gibney were fishing reaction baits all day long and fishing shallow areas all over the river. “I had great day fishing with Gibney and he was awesome to fish with,” stated Polfer.

In fourth place is the Oregon boater, David Mays from Portland, Oregon, weighing in a 5 fish limit of 17 pounds even. Fifth place is held by Oregon federation angler David Simmons of Molalla, Oregon with a 5 fish limit weighing in at 16 pounds 6 ounces.

Day 2 should be a different story, as weather conditions call for higher winds and rainy conditions all day, which could hamper some anglers with big waves which create sea-like conditions on the Columbia River. Launch time tomorrow will be at 6:00
