A first time competitor Wyatt Garrison and 2 time Oregon youth champion Nicholas Chin win the Oregon TBF Youth State Champions on the Willamette River on Saturday, May 26, 2012 from Portland Oregon. Garrison won the 11-14 age group, with a 2 fish catch of 3.31 pounds and Chin won the 15-18 age group with a 5 fish limit of 12.39 pounds. Chin said that he had his limit by 9:00 am and was looking for big fish for most of the day. 
Garrison was on the back deck of the boat with Chin and was able to learn from his partner on how to catch fish and was able to adjust and catch some fish. Both anglers said they caught their fish on a soft plastic tube bait in less than 10 ft of water. Fishing conditions on the river were a bit tough with higher than normal water conditions and locating the fish was a challenge at times. The fish were in the spawning pattern and were fairly easy to catch once the anglers located them. Here are the final standings:
