The Fountain Valley Junior Bass Club decided to give up their last warm Sunday of the year and go out to the local lakes around Colorado Springs and do a “clean up” before winter.
We started at Prospect Lake early in the morning and finished up the long day with a few hours left of daylight down at the Pueblo Reservoir. It was all the boys could do to keep their minds on the project at hand and not help out every angler they encountered at the lakes.
Between lakes, the talk of going fishing was too much for most and all they wanted to do was go fishing.
We finished up with a few hours of daylight left and after collecting 28 bags of trash and those who still could, talked me into taking them down to the Pueblo Reservoir.
It was a very productive day and we all learned how city budget cuts can hurt our local lakes by removing much needed trash cans.
There was a great lesson learned today and the amount of Praise and Thank You’s from the public made our project worth while.
I am very proud of all of them for wanting to include conservation projects like this one in our future club functions.
