The Port City Bass Anglers hosted the annual Kids Fishing Festival on Saturday, July 17th, at Bynum Run Park. Approximately 25 volunteers from the club were present to assist the 90+kids to experience a day of fishing and fun.
The Port City Anglers set up a casting competition, provided lunch for the kids and their parents, and gave door prizes throughout the day. The contest was divided into two age groups with a 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in each age group. The winners received a fishing tackle package and trophy and a Diamond Jim T-shirt from MD DNR.
The over-all winner (highest combined weight) was Cory Lee Wheeler, age 5. He caught over 20 fish (bullhead and bluegill) for a total weight of 7.61 lbs. Cory was selected as the lucky angler to move onto the final drawing for a mentored fishing trip as part of the Youth Component of the Maryland Fishing Challenge featuring Diamond Jim.
