Middletown, CT (Sept 13, 2013) – The 2013 Eastern Division Championship, presented by Cabela’s finished up today on the Connecticut River. Team Connecticut proved themselves on home waters of the Connecticut River in Middletown, Conn.
Dino Moutogiannis of the Connecticut Bass Federation finishes out on top, having the tournament’s largest sack today, 13 lbs even, making his 3-day total of the tournament 30 lbs 8 oz and making him the 2013 TBF Overall Eastern Division Champion.
Finishing in second place overall is no stranger to the Eastern Divisional tournament, Mass’s big stick Jim Gildea. Gildea had his toughest day today, with only 7 lbs, but it was enough to keep him on top of the state team member standings for Mass, which advances him to the TBF National Championship once again, his 5th trip in 7 years, 4th time as a boater. “It was a tough tournament, you have to adapt the drastic changes this river makes in just 1 day. I fished the conditions,” said Gildea. His 3-day total finishes out at 27 lbs 11 oz. “It was a grind, making a track an hour and a half north, going through no wake zones. It was nerve-wracking going on plane in 8’ of water, making sure you are on the right GPS track, making no mistakes. I was very happy to be coming out of that water today.”
The tournament leader of the first two days, Keith Cleary had a tough day today, bringing in only 4 lbs 13 oz for a 3-day total of 25 lbs 11 oz and finishing out in 3rd place overall. Cleary will still be advancing as a co-angler for the state of Connecticut.
In the state team standings, even though they were not the host, Connecticut finishes on top with 196 lbs 10 oz, a near 50 lb lead over Maine, who made a big jump today to finish in second, knocking last year’s champs Mass Bass to 3rd place overall.

The top angler in state team standings advances as a boater and the 2nd place angler of each state advances as a co-angler to the 2014 TBF National Championship next spring. There they’ll fish for the “Living the Dream” prize package to include paid entry fees as an FLW Pro for a year with use of a wrapped Ranger boat and Chevrolet truck, as well as, thousands in cash and prizes.
