Stoddard Holds On to Win – Mass Bass Takes 2012 Eastern Crown

Colchester, Vt. (Sept. 14, 2012) – The 2012 TBF Eastern Division Championship, presented by Berkley has qualified sixteen anglers today for the 2013 TBF National Championship next April on Grand Lake, Okla. April 8-13 in conjunction with the FLW Tour Event at Beaver Lake, Ark. Vermont angler Jason Stoddard and Mass Bass were crowned champions.

Even though Stoddard had the smallest limit of his week today with 13 lbs 8 oz, it was enough to hold on to his lead and be crowned the 2012 Eastern Division Champion on his home waters. His final weight over 3 days was 48 lbs 15 oz. “My week started out real good with a solid bag the first day; the bites came easy. Second day, it was a little tougher. Today, I scrapped together a small limit, all smallmouth,” said Stoddard. “I caught my smallmouth riggin’ and largemouth flippin.” This is Stoddard’s first Vermont State Team appearance, and will be his first trip to the TBF Nationals. Stoddard Doesn’t Stumble – Mass Bass Takes Lead in Team Standings

Colchester, Vt. (Sept. 13, 2012) – The winds were calmer and the waves not so tall today which made it a little easier on the Eastern anglers today for day two of the 2012 TBF Eastern Division Championship, presented by Berkley on Lake Champlain.

Standing his ground and still in 1st place overall is Vermont angler, Jason Stoddard of St. Albans, Vt. He weighed in another impressive sack today with 17 lbs 5 oz, making his two day total 35 lbs 7 oz. “Yesterday I weighed in 4 smallmouth and 1 largemouth. Today I switched it up and weighed 4 largemouth and 1 smallmouth!” said Stoddard. He had an impressive largemouth kicker that weighed 5 lbs 9 oz. “I was running a couple different patterns in the inland sea. I’m going to go out and basically do the same thing tomorrow and hope for good bites.” Stoddard takes a 3lb lead over his 2nd place teammate, 2012 TBF National Champion, Gilbert Gagner. Windy Conditions Make for Rough Waters on Lake Champlain – Vermont Takes Lead

Colchester, Vt.   (Sept. 12, 2012) – Windy conditions and 3 to 4 foot waves on Lake Champlain made it an extremely rough day for the anglers out on the water on the first day of competition of the 2012 Eastern Division Championship, presented by Berkley. With the lake being low and high winds, it was not been a good combination. Anglers from Vermont, New York, Ontario (Canada), Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut are vying for their spot in the 2013 TBF National Championship. They are hoping to follow suit of the current TBF National Champion, who came from the Eastern Division, Gilbert Gagner of Vermont and is fishing this tournament. Continue reading

Otto & Host Wisconsin State Team Sweep the 2012 Northern Division Championship

La Crosse, Wisc. (Sept. 7, 2012) – The race was tight between the top three finishers this week at the 2012 TBF Northern Division Championship, presented by Cabela’s. La Crosse native and Shawano High School business and marketing teacher, Ben Otto made a clean sweep on his hometown waters this week on the Mississippi River and was named the 2012 TBF Northern Division Champion today. He finished strong bringing in 16 lbs 2 oz today to finish out the week with a 3 day total of 47 lbs 8 oz. Continue reading
