An open letter to FLW fans concerning legislative attempts to prohibit military spending on sports sponsorships 

On May 17 the House Appropriations Committee approved an amendment to the 2013 Defense Appropriations Bill prohibiting military spending on sponsorship of professional sports. Specifically, the amendment co-sponsored by Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga., and Rep. Betty McCollum, D-Minn., singles out motorsports, fishing, mixed martial arts and wrestling. Continue reading

TBF DREAM TEAM RALLY SET FOR OHIO RIVER, AUGUST 18

Ponca City, Okla. (June 18, 2012) — The Bass Federation’s brand new Dream Team Rally tournament trail is excited to announce the West Virginia Bass Federation is scheduled to host its first TBF Dream Team Rally event.  The event is scheduled for August 18, 2012 on the Ohio River, at Wheeling Island Ramp in Wheeling, W.Va.  The West Virginia Bass Federation Dream Team Event is open to ALL TBF members, and non-TBF members wanting to join.    Interested teams can go online at bassfederation.com; Dream Team; to enter, the tourney # is 1031.  ALL interested TBF clubs and state federations can go online and register to host their own event today!  Continue reading

2012 Colorado TBF Youth State Championship

The 2012 Colorado TBF Youth State Championship was held on June 17, 2012 at Pueblo Reservoir.

There were 22 contestants in the 15 to 18 age division and 5 in the 11 to 14 age division from Fort Collins, Denver, Co. Springs and the Fountain Valley competing for a spot in the National Guard Junior World Championships. Continue reading

Non-Boater Larry Barnes & Texas State Team Sweep the 2012 Central Divisional on Red River

6/15/12 – It was a smoldering humid final day for the 2012 Central Division Championship, presented by Evinrude near Bossier City, LA at the Red River South Marina. It was a race to the finish as 16 anglers advanced to the 2013 TBF National Championship next spring. And the Texas anglers made quite a statement here today.

Yesterday, Texas non-boater Larry Barnes was in 2nd place behind Dave Heffel of Kansas. Today Barnes stayed consistent and weighed in a solid limit that netted 11 lbs 11oz with a nice kicker fish. That gave Barnes a 3 day total weighed of 31 lbs 10 oz to be named the overall Division Winner, and will advance to the Nationals as a Boater. “I caught my fish flipping pads. During practice I found the pads and tried to force-feed a frog, which is what I should have been catching them on. That wasn’t working, so I started flipping a Lake Fork Tackle Baby Fork Creature, Craw Tubes and a Fork Craw Worm and started catching them. I found a row of pads that was about 150 yards long and would just fish an hour to an hour and a half each way,” said Barnes. Continue reading
