Reel Kids Winner Gets ‘A Day on the Water’

Location:  “Somewhere” on the Mississippi River

It is Monday.  Those less fortunate are at work, but for 3 people Monday is a blessing.  It means an uncrowded boat ramp, no tuna boats or jet skiers and – most importantly – little competition on one of the best bass fisheries in the country.

At the recent Sportsmen’s Expo in Sparta, WI, the Black River Bass Masters conducted another FLW/TBF Reel Kids casting competition and, in a random drawing, 11 year old Elizabeth Puck of Sparta won “A Day on the Water” with one of the club members.  Elizabeth was paired with Kevin Johnson, also of Sparta, and a mutually agreed upon date was chosen. Deering and Davis Crowned 2011 NGJWC Champs

 Nicholas Deering and Derek Davis Capitalize on Changes; Fight Back Against DeGray Lake to Earn the 2011 National Guard Junior World Championship Titles

Yesterday’s blue-bird skies were long gone today as a strong cloud cover, temperature drop, and spike in humidity took over on the final day of the 2011 National Guard Junior World Championship on DeGray Lake presented by the National Guard.   Nicholas Deering and Derek Davis held the top spots in their respected divisions going into the final day but not overall.  Today, they went out to prove they were in fact the best of the best.  Both Deering and Davis received $3,000 in scholarships, a $1,000 Berkley Sponsorship offer, and the most esteemed titles in youth fishing, the 2011 National Guard Junior World Champions.  Continue reading
