March 29, 2011 – The rain and fog settled on Lake Koewee near Seneca, S.C., as the first SC High School Fishing State Championship came to a close. The dynamic duo from the TL Hanna High School Yellow Jackets brought in a 5 bass limit that tipped the scales at 15lbs 7ounces, with a solid 4lb 14ounces kicker. The champions were awarded a $1,000 scholarship to be split $500 a person, to Clemson University, provided they wish to attend; they both plan on and look forward to attending. The money was donated by the Clemson University College Bass Fishing Club from fundraising efforts and winnings from the FLW college series. Continue reading

Ohio High School Fishing State Championship Set For July 9
Ponca City, Okla. (March 19, 2011) – The Bass Federation (TBF), in partnership with FLW Outdoors, announced it will be hosting the inaugural Student Angler Federation Ohio High School Fishing State Championship, July 9 at the boat access ramp in the public use area adjacent to the Gallipolis City Park, Gallipolis, Ohio. The state championship is a two person team event for students in grades 9 -12. Registration for high school anglers and their “coach,” who will provide the boat they compete in, is open online at HighSchoolFishing.org or by calling 580.765.9031. Check-in begins at 4pm on Friday, July 8 in the Gallipolis City Park. A mandatory rules briefing will follow at 6pm. The state championship is a two person team event for students in grades 9 -12. Registration for high school anglers and their “coach,” who will provide the boat they compete in, is online at HighSchoolFishing.org or by calling 580.765.9031. Check-in begins at 4:30pm on May 20 in the meeting room of the host motel, Days Inn South Hill, mandatory rules briefing follows at 6:30pm.
